Inward Awakening

“Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.” —Carl Jung

Looking inward can often bring higher state of awareness to the challenges or questions you have.

Imagine yourself waking up and in a state of hunger. You just slept for eight hours and you need to replenish your body with the appropriate nutrition to get the day started. You have two choices:

You can look outward at the pantry cabinet to see what food is available to put into your body.
Or, you can look inward and ask yourself, what am I hungry for? Being aware of what you’re hungry for may be a sign that your body needs a certain type of food.

For example, if you ask yourself what you’re hungry for and all you can think about is having a banana and orange, perhaps that may be a sign that you need Potassium and Vitamin C.

Self awareness of your current needs can be done on more levels than just nutrition. You could do this same exercise for sleep, exercise and other health promoting activities that your body requires.

The next time you have to decide, what should I do? Try looking inward to see what you may become aware of for the needs of your wellbeing.
